Celebrating 50 Years of IEEI
IEEI was built in the early days of enterprise computing, supporting third-party maintenance firms and systems integrators worldwide with the critical parts and systems needed to keep complex computer environments running. From mainframe and mini computer systems to early PC platforms, we helped customers maintain, repair, and extend the life of their computer technology when reliability mattered most.
Over time, that deep foundation in digital computing and storage positioned IEEI to evolve alongside the industries we serve. A pivotal moment came in 2009, when Congress mandated the transition of U.S. television broadcasting from analog to digital. Drawing on decades of technical expertise, IEEI launched the IEEI.TV division to help television stations successfully navigate one of the most significant technology shifts in broadcast history.
As IEEI marks 50 years of innovation and service, what continues to set us apart isn’t just the technology we provide, but the relationships we build. Our consultative approach, hands-on support, and commitment to helping customers work smarter have remained constant — even as the media landscape continues to evolve.

1st generation - Our Founder - dennis Bress sr
Born in Iowa City, Iowa, raised on a farm in South Dakota, spent four years in the US Airforce as an airborne radar technician, then graduated as an Electrical Engineer from the South Dakota School of Mines. Later obtained a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal State Fullerton, California
His first job out of college was working at Hughes Aircraft in Fullerton, California, as an engineer. Although he enjoyed his role in engineering, he was ultimately more impressed with his sales co-workers, who at the time were driving big Cadillacs and wearing nice suits.
His first sales job was at Calcomp, then General Automation, as well as stints at Point 4 Data Corp, Hitachi, Xerox, FileNet, Bluebird Systems, and Vision Systems.
Dennis created IEEI in 1976, in the early days of enterprise computing, working alongside third-party maintenance firms and systems integrators to supply the essential systems, consumables, and components required to keep complex computer environments running. From mainframe and minicomputer systems to the first generations of PCs, IEEI helped customers maintain and extend their technology at a time when reliability was non-negotiable.
Dennis Bress Sr, now retired, lives on Balboa Island with his wife, Sol, and enjoys the wonderful weather and walks he takes every day around Balboa Island, as well as Friday coffee.

In 1991 he bought the company and continued selling to computer maintenance firms worldwide while running all aspects of a booming tech business. Dennis has supported Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC), HP, SUN, Honeywell Bull and Wang computer systems including attached OEM storage devices by Control Data Corporation (CDC), Imprimis, Seagate, and Computer Upgrade Corporations' (CUC) line of Omnistor optical-based storage devices. Dennis not only oversees IEEI maintenance and systems integration business but is head of IEEI Broadcast. IEEI Broadcast offers digital storage solutions that are revolutionary, yet backed with classic technological sensibility. "This is an exciting time for digital storage-related products for the RICH MEDIA industry. With our selected world-class vendors, I feel we are positioned to be a leader in the growing digital storage market for rich media companies. Our size is our strength. Being a smaller company we offer customer service unparalleled by larger, number-oriented companies. We are a full-service digital storage company that provides the Broadcaster, NEWS, Post and Pre-production, Special Effects, or Game Developers with turn-key real-time edit, graphic, and file-based storage systems. Our solutions can include hardware, software, installation, training, and maintenance. We have long-lasting business relationships in this business and are in it for the long-term."
Dennis resides on Balboa Island in Newport Beach California with his wife Summer and if he's not hard at work for his customers you may find him volunteering for his community, advocating for just political causes, spending time with his family, watching Formula One racing, body surfing, or taking in an Angel's game.
